Finnish mobile game developer Supercell, known for their games such as Clash of Clans, Hay Day and Clash Royale, is bullish on mobile games as the future of eSports, the company said in its latest company hiring post.
“Mobile gaming can take eSports beyond the hardcore gaming niche and turn it into something that everyone does, everywhere,” the company wrote in its latest career listing end-May.
The company sees their latest mobile game Clash Royale, a real-time multiplayer game based on the Clash of Clans universe, as a drive in pushing the competitiveness of mobile games to that level of Personal Computer (PC)-based eSports titles.
“We believe that Clash Royale has the opportunity take eSports to a place it hasn’t quite caught on… mobile platforms,” the company wrote. “Today’s eSports experience is built for console and PC games, but with the massive reach and ubiquity of mobile devices, we believe it can become much more accessible and mainstream than ever before.”
Early this month Clash Royale was awarded as the Best Game by Google Play Awards. It has at least 4.2 million downloads in Google Play store.
The Finnish company is looking for marketing personnel that could fill their eSports and competition segment.
“We’re incredibly excited about this opportunity, and we’re looking for someone that can help us define what eSports means on mobile and what competition means to Clash Royale. We’ve only taken our first few steps into this world with events like Tokyo Clash, ClashCon 2015, and the Clash Royale Helsinki Tournament, and there’s a ton left to figure out,” the company wrote.
Supercell already marked their place in competitive gaming with tournaments like Tokyo Clash and ClashCon 2015.
